Orignally established in 1978 Silica were one of the early pioneers of the service oriented IT mail order industry. Since those early days there are now MANY companies that can offer you a new computer, perhaps a few peripherals and some of the top selling software. Yet there are still very FEW that can offer you a wide range of products AND offer expert advice and help when you need it. Silica's business pillars are based around the customer needs and requirements so you can get free impatial advice before you make your purchase and afterwards when something isn't quite as expected. Silica v2 soft launch - Corporate information website launched. Work begins on full ecommerce webshop. In the meantime please send enquires via the Contact Us page
2011
Ex SIlica personell start to pull together a concept and package for the rebirth of Silica Systems maintaining all of the original Silica values of good customer service, solid advice and honesty tht made Silica such a great company in the first place. Internal name of Silica v2 given.
Mid
1990's
Silica continued to enjoy huge success during the 90's largley due to masive sales of the Commodore Amiga. Sadly the demise of Commodore in 1994 spelt big trouble for the original Silica outfit. Having spent so much time and money in the preceding couple years creating new top quality retail stores and with so much reliance on sales of the Amiga sadly disaster was enevitable. Finally in 1996 the original Silica Shops started to disappear from the high street.

1992
SIlica shops opened nationwide. In total more than 20 Silica branded stores were opened with a combination of Mini, Standard and Superstores. Many inside Debenhams, and a store within Keddies. Turnover during the early 90's in excess of £40m per year, made Silica one of the most sucessful computer retailers in the country.
1990's
During the late part of the 80's and early 90's Silica's mail order department is hugley sucessful. Continued growth in home computing Commodore Amiga, GVP and Atari ST help cement Silica as the top computer mail order specialist in the country.

1980's
Opening of the original SIlica shops in Hatherley Road in Sidcup and the infamous Tottenham Court Road, along with full catalogue mail order offering.
1978
Prodis PLC incorporated and trades as SDL (Silica Distribution Limited) supplying to the trade. It doesnt take long before it becomes clear to SDL that SDL could provide a better service than the limited number of retailers at that time.
